How We Met

It started when Ashley swiped right after receiving a SuperLike from a handsome curly-haired stranger with a witty bio.

June 28th, 2018 in San Francisco was a perfect summer night for a first date. Funny enough, the 29th was the perfect night for a second date. Followed by a third.

He showed her his app, which could send text messages. She showed him her army of Twitch followers and her cat, Oxanna. Before they knew it, they were in love.
Christopher and Ashley spent the next six months dancing, cooking, dining, and laughing their way throughout the Bay Area.  They traveled to Montana, where he introduced her to his parents. To Belize, where she overcame her fear of the ocean and joined him for snorkeling. To his favorite ramen shop, where she made up her mind that she would indeed marry him after he laughed off having an entire bowl of noodles and broth fall on his lap.
Like any romance, there is never a straight path. They separated briefly, unsure of what the future would hold. Fate brought them together again. Christopher flew to see her in Austin, and Ashley agreed to move back to San Francisco... but only if he agreed to move out of his 'very affordable' 300 square foot apartment and in with her. Done deal.
A few months later, Ashley voiced concern over reports of a mysterious disease in China that was trending on Twitter. "It happens all the time", said Christopher. Two weeks later, they were "working from home" indefinitely. Two more weeks, and they landed in Bozeman, Montana (where better to avoid a zombie apocalypse?). They  strengthened their relationship through the pandemic. They survived COVID 19.
2021 found them in Portland, Oregon, where they have fallen deeper in love, and live to this day with their cat and many, many houseplants.

The Proposal

On December 30th, 2021, Christopher and Ashley landed at Charles de Gaulle to ring in the New Year in Paris.
"Why not take some photos under the Eiffel Tower?", he asked, and they dressed up and made their way to the stunning Pont de Bir-Hakeim to catch some beautiful golden hour light.
After posing for a number of shots in different directions, their photographer asked Ashley to turn around and face Christopher... who was down on one knee, engagement ring in hand.
With shimmering eyes and a huge hug, she said yes!

Danae Miller

Ashley met Danae in 2014, when Danae moved to Austin. Before Ashley moved to San Francisco and met Christopher, they were roommates- but most importantly, they have been and remain best friends. The miles may separate them, but they're always chatting to each other on FaceTime, or traveling to festivals together.
Danae is a loyal, thoughtful, and supportive friend.  Ashley is so appreciative to have such a dedicated friend to help guide and ground her through the wedding process.

Giovanni Bryden

Christopher and Gio were early employees at the illustrious Bay Area tech giant Moovweb (acquired). They bonded over Japanese denim, Smash Bros, and dank memes.
Their legendary late night jam sessions, as well as their capers across Portland, New Orleans, and Japan forged a lasting friendship.

Cassandra Johnson

Cassie and Ashley met at an event in 2015, and before long were traversing Austin exploring secret lakes, secret bars and taking lots of co-naps to ensure they had the energy for their adventures. Though Cassie remains in Austin, the bonds of their friendship have remained strong and ever growing deeper.
Cassie is a brave, compassionate and encouraging friend. Ashley is so grateful to have her practical optimism to motivate her through all the stress of wedding planning.

Shane Frykholm

Shane was an early programmer at Moovweb, and one of the most welcoming when Christopher joined the team. Since then, they have constantly weighed in on the applications, technology, and companies they've gotten involved in.
They formed a lasting bond based on immaturity and questionable decision-making, which has made them the men they are today.

Kala Shipley

Kala is Ashley's older sister, and they've been through ups and downs together. As adults, Kala and Ashley are closer than they ever thought possible. Kala and Ashley are constantly in contact, sharing their lives with each other in the open, loving, teasing way only sisters can.
Kala is not just Ashley's sister, but a playful, resourceful and motivational friend. Ashley is so blessed to have her sister and friend for her advice and support through the entire wedding planning journey.

David Li

Chris and David 'Dabe' Li have been friends since freshman year of High School, making Adobe Flash movies in Bio class, hiking through Austria together, and forming a photography club called 'Picture Battle'.
While Christopher attended to NYU, they went exploring throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn together whenever Dabe visited the city, hunting for the best Ramen and independent music -- a tradition they still keep to this day.

Ruthie Schwab

Ruthie and Ashley both started dating their partners at the same time. Lucky for their friendship, those partners happened to be friends and co-founders. They started a bond in San Francisco over their mutual love for cat facts, and deep, thoughtful conversations. They've each given heaps of (mostly good) advice to each other, and continue to grow their friendship through mutual support.
Ruthie is a generous, positive, and trustworthy friend. Ashley is so excited to be able to have her steady friendship and sympathetic ear to encourage her through the entire wedding planning process.

Alejandro De Simone

Chris met Alex in San Francisco right before Alex started his MBA program at Stanford. After graduating, Alex asked Chris to review his code for a new project he was working on, which infamously led to the two entrepreneurs founding a tech company together, now known as Avochato.
Since then, they have gone on to grow their company and their friendship over scotch, 90's karaoke, and a whole lot of text messages.
Ashley and Christopher would be delighted if you would contribute to one of their favorite charities below as a wedding gift.
